This should work on both Windows and Linux.

There aren't that many free options available that work on Linux and are actively maintained. The besy option seems to be https://doc.qt.io/qtinstallerframework/ which is fairly easy to build for: https://doc.qt.io/qtinstallerframework/ifw-tutorial.html
